In wolf news across the country….
Chase Melton, a 19-year-old hunter from Sugar Camp, was out with a couple of younger buddies near St. Germain when things got crazy real fast. What started as a regular morning of hunting turned into a full-on wolf encounter, according to an article via WJFW. One of the kids thought they saw a deer, but nope—it was a wolf, and they realized they were surrounded by a whole pack. Next thing they know, a wolf gets within five yards of their blind, and Chase had no choice but to fire to keep them safe.
After the shot, the other wolves dragged the one that was hit off, and the whole thing was just wild. Chase called the DNR right away, and they confirmed it was a wolf. Another hunter nearby saw even more wolves circling them and heard all the crazy growling and howling. Everyone made it out okay, but let’s just say it’s a morning Chase and his friends won’t forget anytime soon.
