Montana Sportsmen for Fish & Wildlife’s Southwest Chapter is kicking off something new—and it is definitely shaping up to be a great weekend for predator hunters and conservation supporters alike! The First Annual Predator Evolution Weekend Coyote Derby is officially happening, and it is bringing competition, prizes, and purpose together in one awesome event.
The derby is built around two-man teams with a $150 signup fee, and there is a lot more to it than just bragging rights. Half of every signup goes directly to supporting the MTSFW Southwest Chapter, while the other half is paid back out to 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place teams. It’s a win-win situation–you are supporting conservation and have the opportunity to walk away with prizes!
Speaking of prizes—this isn’t a small potatoes payout.
- 1st Place (Most Dogs) takes home two Ruger Americans
- 2nd Place scores a Kel-Tec .22 Mag, an 870 Rimfire, and a 12-gauge
- 3rd Place gets two bipods
Signups kick off Friday, January 23rd at 6 p.m. at the Lions Den 725 N. Montana Street in Dillon, where there’ll also be a Calcutta to follow. The Calcutta runs on a 60/40 split, with 60% paid out three ways, plus 50/50 tickets for those looking to up the action.
There is also a gun raffle you won’t want to miss:
- Henry .30-30 raffle — $50 per ticket, only 100 tickets sold
- 3-Gun raffle — $10 per ticket, and buy 10 tickets to get a free MTSFW membership
The weekend wraps up with check-in on Sunday, January 25th at Anderson Fencing (40 Taylor Dr, Dillon, MT), where the winners will be crowned.
Join to compete, support wildlife conservation, or just enjoy a weekend with like-minded folks! This coyote derby is about more than hunting—it is about giving back and keeping Montana’s sporting traditions strong. So, mark your calendar, grab a partner, get signed up, and be part of this epic event!
