If you’re looking for a reason to brave the ice this winter, Montana Ducks Unlimited just gave you a pretty good one. The Ducks on Ice Fishing Tournament is coming to Canyon Ferry Reservoir on Saturday, February 21, 2026, and it’s shaping up to be a full-on winter classic.

Registration kicks off bright and early at 6:00 a.m. at the Silos Campground, with lines officially in the water by 7:00 a.m. From there, it’s game on—with over $15,000 in prizes up for grabs. Big fish hunters can chase cash for the largest fish ($3,000), largest perch ($1,500), and largest walleye ($1,500), while youth anglers and the always-entertaining little fish 50/50 pot keep things fun for everyone.

Also, there will be a food truck and beverages on site, so you can warm up, refuel, and swap fish stories without leaving the ice.

The bottom line is that you can expect cold temperatures, hot competition, big prizes, and a good cause…it really doesn’t get much better than that. Bundle up, drill some holes, and we’ll see you on the ice!

For more information, you can reach out to Jake Hansen at 801.661.9023 or Carter Olson at 815.315.7461 and get ready to fish.
