The Heat is On: Week 8 Recap of the 2026 Spring Mack Days

The weather on Flathead Lake has been nothing short of spectacular, and our anglers are clearly making the most of it. As we roll into the final stretch of the 2026 Spring Mack Days, the water has been busy—and the numbers prove it. We’ve officially surpassed 35,000 lake trout entries, and with that elusive $10,000 “Chase” fish still out there somewhere, the pressure to land a big payday is at an all-time high.

Whether you’re eyeing the top of the leaderboard or just out for a great day on the water, here’s how the standings look as we head toward the finish line on May 9th.

2026 Spring Mack Days-Week 8 Results

Spring fishing weather on Flathead Lake was great and many anglers enjoyed fishing during week eight of the Mack Days Fishing Event on Flathead Lake. Total fish turned in is at 35,363. Friday total was 1,546, Saturday 1,572, and Sunday 1,151 for a weekend total of 4,269 lake trout entries.

Mack Days Fishing Events are sponsored by the Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribes. The events began in 2002. This is the 48th Mack Days Event. One hundred sixty-two anglers of the 537 entered have caught one or more lake trout since the event began March 12th. The 2025 Spring Event total was 60,138 and 206 anglers turned in one or more entries. The events are being used as a tool in this fisheries management program because anglers requested to have the opportunity to be part of the management plan. The Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribes responded by developing the Mack Days Fishing Events. Every angler is an important part of this fish conservation effort.  There are categories that include men, women, and youth anglers. Two events per year with one in the spring and one in the fall give all anglers the chance to win in these events. There are several ways to win-go to www.mackdays.com for information. Entries are taken until the last day of the event.
