Wayfarers’ Harry Horn Trail got a thoughtful tune-up: brush cleared, rough spots smoothed, and rocks and roots moved out of the way. The goal wasn’t to turn a nature trail into a sidewalk—it was to make the natural path easier for more people to enjoy, including folks using wheelchairs or other mobility aids.
The best part is that the people who face trail barriers helped shape the plan from the start. Their feedback guided the work, and early visitors—including Holly, who has vision challenges, and Bosco, a corgi with wheels—are already enjoying the difference. Now Montana hopes to use this project as a trailblazing example for making more state parks welcoming to people and pets alike.
