Here is the latest ice update from Tongue River Reservoir:
The cold snap over the weekend (0 to -1 degrees) covered much of the reservoir in a THIN layer of ice – maybe 1-2″. The south end up to Crappie Point added a little thickness – maybe 2-4″. However, with the warm weather this week as well as predicted wind and rain, we will see if it lasts. Pools of water were seen on the ice yesterday. Not yet, but another cold snap in the future may get us into ice fishing season.
Use extreme caution if you go out anywhere on the ice. It is a little cooler here than everywhere around us, so snow still covers the ground (currently, at time of post, it is mid 40’s).
The Marina is scheduled to be open the second weekend of January- watch their page for updated information.
