Helena Area Reservoirs Fishing Report 10.26.26

Canyon Ferry: Rainbow fishing has been really good with anglers finding action from shore and boat.  Try trolling cowbells, spoons or crankbaits throughout the reservoir with the Silos area being the most popular spot to catch some really big rainbows.  Shore anglers are finding rainbows on the south end around the Silos, Duck Creek and Confederate on worms.  White Earth, Hellgate and Shannon have produced as well.  Walleye fishing has really slowed down with no reports of fish being caught over the weekend.  Troy Humphrey, FWP, Helena

Hauser: Rainbow fishing from shore has been great at the Causeway with plain crawlers or a black leech fly about 5 feet below a bobber. A few nice trout are being caught below Canyon Ferry Dam while casting spinners or using nightcrawlers with marshmallows. The docks at the boat ramps have been pulled for the season and Black Sandy boat ramp is closed.  Chris Hurley, FWP, Helena

Holter: Rainbow action continues to be great while fishing from the shore at Departure Point, Black Beach, or the Gates of the Mountains. Successful anglers have been using nightcrawlers and marshmallows, Powerbait, various spinners, or leech pattern flies. The campgrounds are closed and docks have been pulled out of the water for the season.  Chris Hurley, FWP, Helena

Helena Valley Regulating Reservoir: The snagging season for Kokanee Salmon opened on September 1st and will run through October 31st.  Limits are 35 salmon daily with 70 in possession.  Chris Hurley, FWP, Helena
