Our Report

3/5 for Fishability

Tip of the Week The fish are tracking the heat. Target the muddy, shallow bays along the north and west shores that warm up first under the morning sun. Position yourself on windward points where cruising fish wait to ambush trapped insects, and focus your casts right where shallow flats drop off into the deep weed lines.

***Open third Saturday in May through March 31, except for the South and East shoreline area which is only open July 1 through March 31. South and East shoreline areas described as follows: all waters from the shore or within 100 yards of shore in the area extending from a point 200 yards west of Lakeside at Georgetown Marina (along the shore, including all of Stuart Mill Bay)***

7 Day Outlook Up at Georgetown, a sunny and cool forecast for the weekend. Highs will be in the 50’s and 60’s. At the beginning of the week it will start to warm up into the high 60s and low 70s.

Best Techniques Indicator fishing is still the best tactic up here. Hang a balanced leech or a chironomid under a bobber, letting the choppy lake surface do all the jigging for you. If the wind really starts picking up, ditch the indicator, switch to an intermediate sinking line, and strip woolly buggers or damselfly nymphs over the drop-offs.
