Canyon Ferry: Walleye fishing continues to provide action throughout the reservoir with the best area being while fishing the east shoreline both north and south of Goose Bay. Trolling bottom bouncers with a worm harness in 20 to 30 feet of water or jigs with a worm provided the best action. Walleyes are also being picked up around Confederate and between the Silos and the Ponds. Rainbows are being caught on walleye gear, lures or cowbells in the traditional walleye spots as well as the north end of the reservoir around Cemetary Island, mid-reservoir around Goose Bay and from the Silos to White Earth. Smallmouth bass continue to be caught on the north end around rocky areas while using jigs with a worm or crankbaits. Shore fishing is slow with a few rainbows and walleyes being caught in Hellgate Bay and Confederate. Troy Humphrey, FWP, Helena
Hauser: Rainbow action has really turned on lately. The Causeway has been producing good numbers of trout while using various nymphs or leech pattern flies. Boat anglers are doing well between Soup Creek and the Powerlines and out from Black/White Sandy while trolling crankbaits, spoon or running a wooly bugger behind a set of cowbells. Riverside Campground has been another good spot to pick up a few rainbows while either fly fishing or using bait from shore. Most walleye have been picked up while fishing inside the Causeway arm with jigs and crawlers or slip bobbers and leeches. Chris Hurley, FWP, Helena
Holter: Rainbow fishing has been great throughout most of the reservoir, especially on the lower end between Split Rock and the Dam. Trolling either dodgers or cowbells with spinner combos tipped with a worm, wooly bugger or corn has been producing great numbers of trout and an occasional kokanee salmon as well. Fly fishing between the Gates of the Mountains and Hauser Dam with various nymphs or streamers continues to produce some nice trout. Most walleye and perch are being caught inside the Canyon, out from Cottonwood Creek, and the Oxbow Bend area while pitching jigs or using slip bobbers and night crawlers along the weed beds. Helena Valley Regulating Reservoir: Snagging has been going well, and anglers are seeing larger fish this year. The snagging season for Kokanee Salmon opened on September 1st and will run through October 31st. Limits are 35 salmon daily with 70 in possession. Chris Hurley, FWP, Helena
