The Bureau of Land Management Montana/Dakotas will bring 41 untrained wild horses and burros to the Upper Yellowstone Wild Horse & Burro Adoption Event, taking place June 6-8, 2025, at the Park County Fairgrounds in Livingston, Montana. 

This event provides a unique opportunity to adopt wild yearlings, burros, and 4-5-year-old geldings, while also learning from experienced trainers on how to work with these incredible animals. 

Event Schedule: 

  • June 6 – Public Viewing: 3 – 7 p.m. 
  • June 7 – Mustang Matt’s “Next Steps” Clinic: 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. 
  • June 7 – First Come/First Serve Adoption Event: 9 a.m. – 6 p.m. 
  • June 8 – First Come/First Serve Adoption Event: 9 a.m. – 6 p.m. 

“By adopting a wild horse or burro, you are helping to maintain healthy rangelands and ensuring that these animals have a sustainable future,” said Patrick Merrill, BLM Montana/Dakotas Wild Horse & Burro Coordinator.
