Despite recent warm weather, ice conditions around the McGuire area remain solid, with 9–13 inches reported in most spots—though access roads are becoming the biggest challenge. Here is Don Wilkins’ full report:
The ice down the McGuire area is still good despite the warm weather. Most everywhere we’ve been, there’s anywhere from 9-13 inches. The biggest challenge is the road, and if it gets warm and thaws, it is nearly impassible.
The walleye bite has still been great, and there’s some good northerns starting to show up, as well. Our best rigs have a bead of some sort just above the minnow.
Our best fishing has come in areas where we can find some submerged brush and setting up on the outside edge of it,mostly in 10-15 FOW. Good luck, and as always check your ice out there.
