The general fishing season is now closed, but certain sections on the Gardiner and Madison rivers remain open to fishing in the Park year round.
You can now drive over the new Yellowstone bridge near Tower Junction, (although the walkway portion is not open quite yet). Although the Lamar valley is now closed to fishing it is still a beautiful drive and worth going – perhaps you fish for just a couple hours and then go warm up by sight-seeing the rest of the day while the crowds are down and the animals are out.
