Organizers of the 1st Annual Fort Peck Montana Tournament of Kings at Fort Peck Lake have announced a simplified registration process following feedback from anglers planning to participate.

The update is designed to make the online application easier for teams preparing to register when registration opens on March 15, 2026.

What Has Changed

Previously, teams were expected to provide Social Security Numbers (SSNs) for all team members during registration. After hearing from anglers that it can be difficult to gather that information ahead of time, tournament organizers have updated the process.

Now, only Team Member 1 (the Captain) will need to enter their SSN on the registration form.

The remaining team members can provide their SSNs later at tournament check-in.

Captain Responsibility

The tournament captain will be responsible for bringing the remaining team members’ SSNs on the day of the event.

If a team wins prize money and those SSNs have not been provided, the winnings may be subject to income reporting or withholding requirements.

EIN Option Available

Teams that prefer not to use a Social Security Number may use an EIN instead. Organizers ask that teams notify them after completing registration if they plan to use this option.

Secure Registration

Organizers emphasized that the online registration form is secure and encrypted, helping protect personal information submitted during the process.

Information Still Required

Even with the update, teams must still provide some details for each member during registration, including:

  • Contact information
  • Date of birth
  • ALS number

The change is intended to streamline registration and reduce barriers for teams signing up, while still ensuring the tournament has the information required for prize reporting.

Tournament organizers say they appreciate the feedback from anglers and look forward to a great event this summer at Fort Peck.
