Canyon Ferry: Walleye fishing is very good between the Silos and Pond 4, including the river mouth in 10 to 15 feet of water. Also try White Earth to Gull Island, Hellgate and Confederate areas in 20 to 30 feet of water on bottom bouncers with slow-death rigs or worm harnesses in perch, purple or white spinner blade colors. Various colored jigs and crankbaits have been working as well. A few perch are being caught by anglers using walleye rigs in these same areas. Rainbow fishing has slowed up some as the fish are moving to deeper water. Some anglers are finding rainbows while fishing with walleye gear, lures or cowbells in the traditional walleye spots as well as the north end of the reservoir around Hellgate, Cemetary Island and the west shore. Hauser: Walleye and an occasional perch are being caught in the Causeway Arm while using jigs and crawlers or trolling bottom bouncers with spinner rigs. Shore anglers are catching a few walleyes from the Causeway Bridge with slip bobbers and leeches. Rainbows are being caught around White Sandy, the Causeway and the El Dorado Dredge Piles while trolling hoochies, cowbells or dodgers with wedding rings and using various streamers below Canyon Ferry Dam. An occasional northern pike is being caught around the weed beds in the Causeway Arm and around the Dredge Piles while casting larger spinners or swim baits. Troy Humphrey, FWP, Helena
Holter: Rainbow fishing continues to provide great action throughout most of the reservoir with the best area being the Black Beach to Split Rock area while trolling hoochies, cowbells or dodgers with spinner combos tipped with a crawler. A few nice kokanee are being caught while using similar equipment at depths of 30 to 60 feet between Split Rock and the Dam. Walleyes and a few perch are being caught while trolling dark colored crankbaits or bottom bouncers with leeches from the Boat Loft to Juniper Bay in 10 to 20 feet of water.
