This will be the Final Fishing Report sent out for the 2025 fishing season. We will begin sending out reports for the 2026 Ice Fishing Season as soon as the ice on our local reservoirs is safe to be out on.

Canyon Ferry: Rainbow fishing is good from both shore and boat.  Shore anglers are doing best around the Silos and at the Shannon boat ramp while using worms or fly fishing with nymphs.  Boat anglers are finding rainbows throughout the reservoir, especially on the north end while using spoons, cowbells or fly fishing with a leech pattern.  Walleye fishing is slow with a few being caught around the Silos, Duck Creek and Confederate while using bottom-bouncers with flashers or crankbaits.  Troy Humphrey, FWP, Helena

Hauser: Rainbow fishing has been good from shore at the Causeway while using crawlers and a marshmallow, powerbait, or leech pattern flies. Riverside Campground area is also producing some nice rainbows from shore with the same tactics. The docks have been pulled out of the water at all the public boat ramps.  Chris Hurley, FWP, Helena

Holter: Rainbow fishing has been good while trolling on the lower end of the reservoir with cowbells and spinner combos tipped with worms. Shore anglers are catching good numbers of rainbows near the Gates of the Mountains, Log Gulch, and Departure Point while using worms and marshmallows, powerbait, or leech pattern flies. The docks have been pulled out of the water at all the public boat ramps.   Chris Hurley, FWP, Helena

Helena Valley Regulating Reservoir: The snagging season for Kokanee Salmon opened on September 1st and will run through October 31st.  Limits are 35 salmon daily with 70 in possession.  Chris Hurley, FWP, Helena
