Hunt in Montana

A hunter in southwestern Montana, faced with their last opportunity to hunt for the season, shared this photo of a buck they harvested. “Any deer would do,” was the philosophy that day (of course, within constraints of regulations).

They called this deer a “little freak” with a broken off antler that turned downward and likely had caught a branch at some point, because it appeared that the deer had gone blind in one eye, possibly from getting poked or scratched.

However, the deer had a great amount of fat on it, the most the hunter had seen on a deer from this area, giving a good reminders that for most folks, it’s not all about the antlers, it’s about putting good food on your table.
