Strong winds continue to sweep across the area, according to the latest post from Lakeridge Lodging and Bait Shop at Fort Peck, holding steady at 20 to 30 mph and rapidly changing conditions on the main lake. The sustained gusts have broken up remaining ice sheets, leaving much of the lake as open water. What ice is left is now unstable and fragmented, creating unpredictable and potentially dangerous conditions.
As of now, the lake should be considered a mix of broken ice and wide-open water. Anyone planning to head out should use extreme caution and avoid venturing onto questionable surfaces. (all photos via Lakeridge Lodging and Bait Shop)
