Estella Kirk and Gavin Guthrie planned an intimate beach wedding in the Florida Keys. Rosy planned lunch, according to an article via People.
The couple were midway through their ceremony at Little Palm Island when laughter began rippling through their group of about 25 guests. The vows were going just fine. The floral arrangements, however, were under attack!
A rare Key deer had wandered in from the island and discovered what appeared to be an extremely fancy salad bar. According to Kirk, Rosy had made herself at home and was “absolutely going to town on our flower arrangements!”
Key deer are an endangered subspecies of white-tailed deer found only in the lower Florida Keys. They are among Little Palm Island’s most beloved residents, although Rosy may now also be its least affordable wedding guest.
Once Kirk and Guthrie realized why everyone was laughing, they joined in. Guests attempted to keep their attention on the ceremony while Rosy rapidly worked her way through the “very expensive wedding flowers.”
The couple’s efforts to slow her down had little effect. Rosy was not there for romance, small talk or seating assignments. As Kirk joked, the deer had decided the arrangements were “the perfect wedding buffet.”
Having finished her floral tasting menu, Rosy stuck around for the newlyweds’ beach photo shoot. She appeared in their portraits, accepted some affection and remained nearby until the final photograph, when it started raining.
Images and videos of the surprise guest soon went viral, with viewers loving the perfectly unscripted moment. For Kirk and Guthrie, Rosy’s cameo transformed a carefully planned celebration into the kind of wedding story nobody could have planned—and nobody in attendance is likely to forget!
